[FFXIV Guide] Guide: Atma & Zodiac Weapons
2.2 offers the possibility to upgrade your Relic Zenith weapon into a more powerful version of it. However, it is a bit complicated to understand everything. I found myself being quite lost at the beginning, and I guess I am not the only one.The guide is not done yet, I am still working on it. I will let you know once I update it!
Step 1: Start the quest and farm Atmas
Have a Relic Zenith equipped and talk to Gerolt, the blacksmith in North Shroud. A new NPC called Jalzahn will appear and he will introduce you to the 12 Atmas that you will have to farm now.
Every FATE has the chance to drop an Atma - low or high level doesn't change anything. You don't have to be in a group and the drop is completely random. Have patience, because it might take you a while to get a drop. You can also obtain more than 1 Atma of the same kind - so basically it is possible to farm a lot of Atmas with only one class and use them for other classes. (Confirmed, because it happaned to me)
How to notice that you got an Atma?
After completing a FATE a small window pops up eventually, telling you what Atma you got. Have in mind that an Atma is not a quest item, so it will be placed in your normal inventory bag. Make absolutely sure that you got enough space in your inventory - to literally avoid drama.
Atmas and their locations:
*Some locations in the questlog are wrong - the locations below are 100% correct and I can confirm it
Eastern Thanalan: Atma of the Bull
Western Thanalan: Atma of the Twins
Southern Thanalan: Atma of the Scorpion
Central Thanalan: Atma of the Scales
East Shroud: Atma of the Goat
North Shroud: Atma of the Archer
Central Shroud: Atma of the Maiden
Western La Nocea: Atma of the Crab
Outer La Nocea: Atma of the Lion
Middle La Nocea: Atma of the Ram
Lower La Nocea: Atma of the Fish
Upper La Nocea: Atma of the Water Bearer
Step 2: The books
After collecting all the 12 Atmas, you will have to exchange them to get an upgraded version of your Zenith Weapon, called "Relic Name" Atma. To do so, you will have to visit Jalzahn in North Shroud again. Be sure to have another weapon for your current class/job in your inventory, because you will have to unequip the Relic Zenith. While talking to him, select the option "Relic Weapon Zenith Enhancement".
Scam?! Nah, you will now get the chance to upgrade the weapon.
The quest will now sent you to Mor Dhona and you will have to talk to a young Mi'qote named G'jusana. She will tell you that you will now have to farm 9 special books - each of them will cost you 1.500 (!!!) Tomes of Mythology. The real grind begins now!Once you got your tomes, you can buy any of the 9 books. The order doesn't matter - you will have to buy every book anyway. But you should go for the stats that are useful to you first, of couse.
Have in mind that you are not getting the stats for free, though. Once you obtained a book, you'll find it placed inside of your key items bag and you can leftclick on it to use it. It opens up a nicely designed interface that will tell you what you will have to do now to unlock the stats that it gives.
The second tab tells you which 3 dungeons you have to complete.
The third tab shows three different, special FATEs that you need to do... Sadly this can be really annoying, because some FATEs just don't want to show up and it might involte some camping.
And last but not least - in the fourth tab you will have to complete 3 different Leve-Quests. Locations and names are given if you hover over any of the pictures. Not a big problem here, just make sure that you got enough allowances.
I will release a full guide how to complete any of the 9 books in detail once I got all of the books by myself.
What happens if I completed a book?
Congratulations, the stats will now get added to your Atma weapon. The book will remain in your quest item bag for now.
Step 3: Zodiac Weapons
At this point I didn't unlock step 3 yet. I will add further information and a detailed guide once I am able to look into that by myself.
